I’ve always enjoyed the Coen brothers and their movies especially Fargo, True Grit, No Country for Old Men, and the Big Lebowski. The latest cinematic feature, Hail, Ceasar!, is true to Coen’s style. It’s a solid throwback to postwar Hollywood and films you see on TCM. The inconsistent narrative can be a bit frustrating, but the charismatic characters played by a solid cast makes up for a fun watch. There’s a couple of scenes that are hysterical and left me wanting more. It does kind of drag once we hit the halfway mark, and the climax, if there was any, feels a bit anticlimactic. Overall, as a Coen fan, it’s a bit fun and if you are too then I’d cosign and recommend you to go see it. If you don’t know much of Coen bros. work or don’t get into older classic films then I’d advise to wait til it comes out to rent. Then see how you feel about it. May feel better paying 1-3 dollars to rent as opposed to 8-11 dollars per person to watch at the movie theaters.
